Dedicated

We have known that Sydney was God's since before she was born, and today we dedicated her to the Lord in front of our church. We know that this did not contribute to her salvation- that is a decision she will have to make when she is old enough to understand what it is- but it was a way to publically commit that we will raise her in God's love and commands and acknowledge that she belongs to Him.
She got to wear a special dress today- my mom's christening gown. Sydney's great-great-grandmother made this by hand for her granddaughter- Syd's grandmother- more than 50 years ago. (you're welcome mom) She was the eighth baby to wear this beautiful gown.

As part of the dedication, we were asked to choose and read a scripture for our daughter. Rob and I chose Ephesians 3: 16-19-- I pray that He may grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, and that the Messiah may dwell in your heart through faith. I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the length and width, height and depth of God's love, and to know the Messiah's love that surpasses knowledge, so you may be filled with all the fullness of God. (New Internation Version)  This is our prayer for Sydney. We would love it if you would join us in praying these verses for our girl.

Sydney is an incredible person, and we are honored that God chose us to be her parents.
She is a blessing like no other.
